Super Bowl XLVII in the Big Easy
Sports fan or no sports fan, there is no denying that the Super Bowl is one of the biggest and most watched events in American sports. The 47th annual Super Bowl between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers will be held on February 3, 2013 in the famed New Orleans Superdome.
New Orleans is no stranger to hosting big, supersized events and this Super Bowl will be the 10th that the city has hosted. In addition to the action on the field between the 49ers second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the Ravens fifth year pro Joe Flacco, New Orleans can throw a party like no other city on earth.
If you’re lucky enough to be headed to New Orleans with your golden ticket to the game or if you’re just going to be a part of the excitement, there is something to do for every member of the family. Here are a few of my picks:
NFL Experience – described as “pro football’s interactive theme park.” This event is a great family event with everyone being able to participate in various football exercises, meeting past and present players and getting autographs.
Super Bowl Fan Jam – the venue and lineup of recording artists has yet to be released but this is the place to be to listen to some of today’s top music performed live.
Verizon Super Bowl Boulevard at the Woldenberg Riverfront Park – another great place to hang out with the kids. This event held over four days offers live music, interactive fan events, food infused with a healthy dose of New Orleans hospitality.
Regardless of whether you’re lucky enough to have tickets to the Super Bowl or headed to New Orleans to be a part of the pre-game excitement, you’ll want a comfortable hotel with great amenities to head back to at night. I suggest making your reservations at the BEST WESTERN PLUS French Quarter Landmark Hotel located in the French Quarter and near Bourbon Street to make sure your visit to New Orleans is unforgettable.
